When WAPF was launched in 2004, it was agreed that the event would be held annually and should rotate among the 15 West African countries in Districts 9101, 9102, 9110, 9125, 9141 and 9142. The events raise public image of Rotary International in the region, and extend fellowship to visiting Rotarians, friends, and colleagues. The maiden WAPF was held in Accra, Ghana in November 2005. It attracted 50 West African clubs that presented more than 200 projects, valued at approximately $6.0 million followed by subsequent venues as shown below:
